Spring break for whom?

Today we had breakfast with the Easter Bunny - granted he did not eat - but the kids enjoyed pancakes, eggs and grits. After waiting for about twenty minutes for our picture to be taken with the bunny, we ran out for the Easter Egg hunt. Needless to say, it's VERY COLD OUTSIDE! The wind is blowing - HARD! We hurried inside and got everything set up. The kids had fun decorating cookies, making a craft, coloring, and dying eggs. We never were able to have the egg hunt much to Katie's sadness. We then hurried to have lunch at McDonald's and waited in line with many of the same kids that we had at church. We have now rushed home so that we can make a cake and casserole for tomorrow. I have also made 27 deviled eggs (never again will I volunteer for that job). Don't ask why it's 27 deviled eggs and not an even number - things just happen. The kids are now hungry and I'm really ready to sit. The house smells like eggs and chocolate which is really not a pleasant combination. It's too cold to be outside and the dog will not leave the wall paper alone in the kitchen. I have called all of David's deacon tribe families to tell them the obvious - it's cold outside and the sunrise service will be held inside the church. I have also called Heath Efird's deacon tribe families to tell them the same because he had the right idea and is on a cruise for twelve days, therefore, missing the entire running around of Easter. But never fear, the bunny hops on in tonight and we will rush though the baskets in the morning to be dressed and ready for church - where I will get to sit.

Funny words

Sometimes my kids can say the funnest words. This morning it was so foggy outside that it was difficult to see. Katie says, "I can't believe how froggy it is this morning." Cole agreed that it was very froggy. Katie sometimes says allergy for alert when playing battle with her brother. Cole says that he takes durteck (Zurteck) for allergies. They were singing, "The weather outside is nightfull, the sun is so delightful, since we have no place to go, Let it snow." Well, at least they say I love you just right.

Swim Lessons

We had swim lessons for the first time on Thursday. Both kids really need to learn how to swim. They are taking lessons from a very sweet girl named Hannah. She is a swim coach and teacher. Needless to say, she has experience. Cole was in tears as soon as heard about the lessons. Katie was pumped up and ready to go. When we arrived at the pool, Katie began to cry. Cole was trying to be very brave. She taught them the proper way to enter the pool and talked to them about the difference between the deep end and the shallow end. The lesson started with the dead man's float. Katie was up first. Katie floated and then Hannah told her the proper way to keep her head up so that her ears were under the water. Katie did not like that one bit. Hannah then told her that she would count to ten and then help her up. As soon as Katie's head was floating, Katie began to count. Hannah then informed Katie that she was the teacher and she had the right to be the one to count. Th...

Fire Crakcer, Fire Cracker, Boom, Boom, Boom

Today is News Years Eve. The kids and I spent the day at home making a cake. David went to a football game. We gathered at Marty and Jennifer's house along with the Brake family (who are moving tomorrow to Boston) and all ate soup and cake. As darkness fell, we took to the street to shoot off LOTS of fireworks - most illegal. The kids had a ball running around with sparklers while all the women watched for the cops! The husbands would light and run. Yes - it was a grand ol' time celebrating New Years Eve in the south! Too bad the Brake family are moving up north - I bet they will never see such a show up there. Well, heres to a new year.
