Today, Cole has asked about a gazillion times to have our neighbor over. Jaxon is also in Cole's class at school and in his cub scout group. Needless to say, I know Jaxon. I walked across the street and talked to his mom about having Jaxon over. Before anything was decided, both kids were across the street in my yard tossing a football. Jaxon's mom said, "OK, I will send his brother over in about thrity mintues to get him. Have fun." She smiled and walked back into her quite home. The boys tossed the football about twenty times. Long enough for Jaxon to fall and roll into the red mud and coat his shoes, shoe strings, and jeans in bright red mud. Jaxon then looks at Cole and says, "Let's go in!!" I race in to bar the doors. "Katie bar the doors!" I yell. Red mud alert! I then ask the boys, in my best Mother voice, "Let's just play outside. The weather is beautiful." Luckily, the boys find a tape measure and begin to measure anything that will stand still. I went in for a piece of paper and pen so that all the measurements can be recorded. I have to say that I won that round - Mom/clean house 1 - mud covered boys 0. Somehow I know this was only a battle and not the war.
Sometimes my kids can say the funnest words. This morning it was so foggy outside that it was difficult to see. Katie says, "I can't believe how froggy it is this morning." Cole agreed that it was very froggy. Katie sometimes says allergy for alert when playing battle with her brother. Cole says that he takes durteck (Zurteck) for allergies. They were singing, "The weather outside is nightfull, the sun is so delightful, since we have no place to go, Let it snow." Well, at least they say I love you just right.
